Campsite. We had rain when we got to the campsite, only just getting the tents up in time before it pelted down. Later it eased off, and we had dinner, but it rained again during the night, and this photo is taken the next morning.

The green trilobite tent is version one of the Don Hitchcock Kilobeater. The object is to make a tent which weighs less than one kilogram all up. This one weighed 840 gm, and needed just two pegs, and kept the rain off well. However it was a single skin type, suffered from condensation problems, and was not easy to get in and out of.

Version 2 of the Kilobeater is a single pole double skin type, and all up weighs 880 gm including pole and pegs, and works well, with more room, easy access, a vestibule for the pack and for cooking, and no condensation problems. It is also a one person type. I believe I could make a two person tent at pretty close to my self imposed one kilogram limit.

On the creek again. We left the tents up while we headed down to the junction with the Macleay.
